How AstroGyan Calculates Panchang and Kundli Data
AstroGyan separates its calculations from its interpretations. The values displayed for planets, lunar factors and daily timings come from defined formulas and settings; the horoscope text is general spiritual guidance rather than a guarantee of events.
Reference system
The site presents zodiac positions using a sidereal framework with Lahiri Ayanamsa. It converts calculated longitudes into the twelve Rashis and twenty-seven Nakshatras, then derives values such as Nakshatra Pada, Tithi, Yoga, Karana and the transiting Moon sign. This setting is stated because different astrology software can use different ayanamsa choices and therefore show slightly different sidereal positions.
Planetary and lunar inputs
The calculation engine uses established astronomical routines for solar and lunar longitude and VSOP87 planetary data for Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Longitudes are converted from tropical to sidereal positions before the Vedic labels are derived. The resulting numbers are calculation outputs; traditional interpretations built from them are not scientific predictions.
Daily Panchang assumptions
The public Panchang is labelled for New Delhi, India, and uses Indian Standard Time. Sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kaal and other clock-based values depend on the location, date and time zone. Use the page as a New Delhi reference, not as an exact local muhurta table for another city. For ceremonies or decisions where timing matters, consult a locally calculated Panchang and an appropriate qualified adviser.
Personal charts
A Kundli needs the birth date, local birth time and birth place. The ascendant and house positions change quickly, so uncertain birth times reduce the reliability of house-based interpretation. If you do not know the exact time, treat the output as exploratory and avoid conclusions that depend heavily on a single placement.
