How a Kundli Works: Birth Chart, Ascendant and Houses
A Kundli is a snapshot of the sky at the moment and place of birth. Its value depends on reliable inputs: date, clock time, birthplace and the calculation settings used to convert them into planetary positions.
Why birth time is important
The ascendant moves quickly, usually changing signs about every two hours. It determines the house layout, so even a modest error can change the chart's framework. If the time is unknown, say so openly: a chart can still be explored, but ascendant- and house-based claims become less reliable.
From placements to interpretation
A thoughtful reading asks several questions together: What does the planet signify? Which house does it occupy and rule? Is it supported or challenged by sign dignity, aspects or conjunctions? Is a relevant Dasha period active? Single-placement claims—such as “one planet means one outcome”—leave out the context that makes chart interpretation meaningful.
